Prayer Reflection Video - 22 April
A new command
Verses:
John 13: 34-35
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
Reflection
Just a few weeks ago as we were journeying towards Easter I was reading the incredible narrative of the Passion of the Christ from John's gospel and was struck again by the incredible words of Jesus in John 13 where he commands his disciples to love one another. And I'm struck by what Jesus doesn't command us to do - he doesn't command us to
agree with one another. I think he knew that that wasn't a card on the table. But he does command us to love one another, and so it must be possible with his help.
I think our greatest witness to the world in these days is to be a group of people that don't necessarily agree with one another on all kinds of things, but nonetheless demonstrate what it means to love one another. And of course, as Christ has loved us he gave his life for his disciples - the degree of that love, if we were able to demonstrate that to the world, would be transformative.
