Laird Street welcomes its community
Cathy Buntin reports on her church's latest community barbecue, where for once, the sun shone
We at Laird Street Baptist Church like to take the opportunity of trying to engage with our local community, so each year we put on a community barbecue at the start of the summer holidays.
It often results in us having the food indoors as it usually rains, but this year we had a brilliant day as the sun shone even though the wind was cool some of us managed to eat outside.
It was a great opportunity to join together with the local Anglican Church St James and the community around Laird Street.
We had a great time of fun and laughter and the African drummers came along and performed for us. At the end of this the children were invited to try out the drums and they had a fantastic time and had a short lesson in drumming.
It was a great event and it enabled us to meet our community in a relaxing and sociable way. We have made a lot of contacts through this day and will be writing to let them know of any future events which we plan to do in the autumn.
What a great opportunity to serve God in this way in the North End of Birkenhead, and we look forward to all that God will be doing among his people at Laird Street.
They are friendly and very faithful and God will bless all our efforts even though we do not always see the results of our labours. He is the faithful one that promises. The glory all goes to our God who is awesome, mighty and powerful.
