Jubilee celebrations at Laird Street Baptist Church

Laird Street Baptist Church invited its church community to an afternoon tea in celebration of our Queen, writes Cathy Buntin

Laird Street jubileeWe have for many months tried to engage with our local community - and it took the Queen to succeed. We welcomed many people who were new to the area.

We had live music, face painting and balloon modelling, and we gave away 47 copies of Our Faithful Queen, the coffee table book from Hope Together which features prayers used by the Queen before her Coronation. The book is an opportunity to start a conversation with family members and friends about the Queen’s faith, prayer, and the Bible.

Our Sunday morning service included prayers and the national anthem, to which our worship leader wrote an extra verse which said:

Thank you that she has been
A faithful caring Queen
One who loves you in all she's had to do - in all that she's been through
Lord, she has honoured You - Honour her to.
