'Simple acts of kindness this Advent'

Laird Street Baptist decided to do seething different this Advent - and it was amazing, writes minister Cathy Buntin

Toy serviceOn the second Sunday we held a Toy Service, which were all donated to Charles Thompson's Mission which serves the community by helping the homeless with shelter and food. The Mission is run by someone who came through a youth club run by Laird Street many years ago, and the work they do is invaluable.

The members wanted to give something to help those less fortunate than themselves and as the mission was asking for children's gifts for Christmas, they rose to the challenge.

The giving of a small fellowship was overwhelming and came from the love and blessings that we have received from Jesus.

We have been blessed in so many ways and to have the opportunity to give back to others was truly amazing. Simple acts of kindness. Let us all look for God given opportunities to give simple acts of kindness this Advent and to share the love and hope that we as Christians have in Christ.

Every blessing for Christmas. Be amazed and see where God leads you.
