Church organises weekend of creativity as City of Culture contribution
Shipley Baptist Church, in Bradford, West Yorkshire, devoted a weekend to the arts, crafts, music and poetry of its congregation as a response to Bradford 2025, UK City of Culture

The event was entitled "Marvelous Makers" and provoked great interest in the church and community.
Deacon Katie Jones led a team in creating an arts and crafts exhibition with paintings, needlework, cross stitch, and other forms of art with items all relating to the UK City of Culture theme. The exhibition in the church worship area was open on Friday afternoon, all day Saturday and Sunday morning.
On Saturday evening members of the congregation offered an evening of music and poetry which delighted an audience drawn from the Shipley area.
Katie described it as a 'significant event, demonstrating the wide range of talent within the church community.'
The event was publicised by Shipley Town Council with a steady stream of visitors throughout the opening hours.
