Prayer Reflection Video - 23 June 2025

Shine like stars - this week's prayer reflection from Nick Allan, Director of the Centre for Baptist Ministry at St Hild College.
 
 

 

My name is Nick. I'm the Director of the Centre for Baptist Ministry at St Hild College.

We're going to pray today for people in unusual circumstances. Because it's summer season, many of us take a change of pace in the summertime. We've just had the longest day of the year in June and I was thinking, actually it'd be great as a national family to pray for opportunities for us to be what Paul describes in Philippians chapter 2 as 'lights that shine like stars in a crooked generation' - an opportunity to shine perhaps when we're on holiday or when we're in different circumstances. It's the time of year where we meet new people - perhaps we're on the road, even if your job is continuing or your home caring responsibilities continue - sometimes we find ourselves amongst new people or new places when summer comes.

So Lord,
Would you be with us and amongst us.
Would the Baptist family take this opportunity to shine like stars.
Would our words be spiced up with gospel messages.
Would we be people of hope and grace as we meet others in new situations this summer.
We pray that in Jesus' name, Amen
