Prayer Reflection Video - 5 May 2025
A prayer about walking alongside people - from Helen Sanoh, a hospital chaplain in Essex, in the Eastern Baptist Association.
Hello, I'm the Revd Helen Semoh, and I am a hospital chaplain working in mental health units across Essex.
There's so much research to suggest that faith and belief are very important parts of mental health care and we are privileged to walk alongside our patients as they navigate life. Sometimes this can be very overwhelming, and I'd like to come back to something simple that Hypocrates the Greek physician said "Cure sometimes, relieve often, but comfort always." Our hope as chaplains is to comfort always.
Let me pray:
Loving God, everyone is made in your image and you love and care for those who are struggling with their mental health. As Christians, let us always show patience, compassion and love. We pray that those struggling with the challenges of life will know your grace and peace.
Amen
