Prayer Reflection Video - 3 March 2025
A reflection and prayer from Phil Barnard, Regional Team Leader for London Baptists
For our prayers this week, I want us to focus on that phrase ‘speaking the truth in love’.
Describing how leaders in the church are there to help the Body of Christ towards maturity, the Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 4: ‘
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves and blown here and there by every wind of teaching, and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love we will grow to become, in every respect, the mature body of him who is the head, that is Christ.’
I don’t know about you, but there seems to be a painful absence of those qualities in our world today. For us in the church, we’re to be people of truth and love. How we reflect that to others is a crucial aspect of our witness.
As we begin Lent, let us take that opportunity to refocus our attention, to be the kind of people the Lord wants us to be.
Let’s pray.
Living God
In this Lenten time, we come together in seeking your presence and asking for guidance.
Help us Lord to see ourselves as we really are and as you would have us be.
Lord, in this post-truth age, help us to be people and communities that speak the truth in love to our divided and dangerous world.
Empower us to be your witnesses.
In your name we ask this.
Amen
