‘When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place’ – Baptist Assembly 2024

Bookings have now opened for this year’s Baptist Assembly (17-19 May), which takes place over Pentecost

Baptist Assembly 2024

Held at the Telford International Centre once again, the three-day gathering will see a focus on Acts 2 as we seek to follow and share Jesus in our communities.

Lynn Green at Baptist AssemblyIt will be ‘a wonderful opportunity to be filled afresh with the gift of the Holy Spirit’, says General Secretary Lynn Green.

‘We want to build on the momentum of last year’s Baptist Assembly, when we had fantastic time at Telford.

‘Our time will be rooted in scripture, specifically Acts 2 which begins by stating that "When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place".

‘Friends from across the Baptist family will be gathering for what we hope will be a genuine, contemporary Pentecost for Baptists Together.

‘For me there is an expectation this will be a special and holy space - and I would love to see you there!’

The Baptist Assembly is an opportunity to connect with and offer support and encouragement to each other; give thanks to God, and commission and pray for God’s blessing on those who undertake recognised roles and ministries.

Steve-Finamore1Many key elements of the Baptist Assembly are in place – the commissioning service of our Newly Accredited Ministers, lay preachers and Mission Personnel; the induction of our new President (Steve Finamore) and the In Memoriam, where we remember those who have died in the previous 12 months.

There will be worship, preaching and teaching, a networking zone, and throughout prayer will be central. It will be grounded in Scripture – indeed, one of Steve’s themes for his presidential year is a focus on the ways we keep the Scriptures central to our worship, teaching, mission, and processes of discernment.

New for 2024 is a focus on deeper resourcing on Friday afternoon with a mini Catalyst Live from BMS World Mission, art and evangelism with Chris Duffett, pioneering and planting with Sandra Crawford and Alex Harris and Isabella Senior with young adults.

Talking of young adults, we will be offering a Young Adults Assembly Package where for £100 a young adult will get to stay two nights at Wilderhope Manor (breakfast and lunch included), a full Assembly ticket and an opportunity to contribute.

Children, young people, and families are especially welcome. Not only will they have their own spaces but will contribute to the whole of Assembly as we listen to God through the voice of the child. There is a full programme for children and young people up to Year 13.

Saturday morning will begin with two options – various prayer spaces or being part of the Baptists Together takeover of the Telford parkrun which takes place next the venue. Whether you run, jog, walk or would like to volunteer there is a place for you in this all-age activity.

Baptist Assembly All Together

We will than all gather for a multi-voiced Bible study on Acts 2.

After lunch, we will be offering three sessions:

  • Equipping - with a series of diverse seminars
  • Reflecting with Baptists Together (which features the induction of our President)
  • Reflecting with BMS World Mission

There is an evening session of worship, preaching, celebration, and commissioning - with a keynote address by Lynn.

The Assembly continues on Sunday. After a time of prayer ministry, we will join for our all together morning service with worship, preaching, prayer and In Memoriam, before being sent out. More on the programme is here.

In addition to this, prayer ministry and spaces will be available throughout the weekend. The Networking Zone brings together formal and informal networks across Baptists Together. Delegates will be able to gather ideas and resources for themselves and their churches.
