Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge for Home Mission

Current President Hayley Young is donning her walking boots to raise funds for Home Mission, and will be joined by several others passionate about the cause. She explains more

Home Mission challenge

One of the many joys I have in my role as President of Baptists Together is to see first hand how our movement serves its communities through local, regional and national support.

I have already visited many churches and ministers who are reaching out into their communities with the love of Jesus and seeing their communities transformed as they listen and learn from each other.

I have experienced how our regional teams are seeking to support churches and ministers through new and creative ways while sustaining the support they have traditionally given.

I have seen how amazing the Specialist Teams are in their discernment of what is happening across our movement and how they support churches and ministers through advice and prayer.

All of what I am seeing and hearing is only possible because of our Home Mission Giving; therefore I am raising money through walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks on 11 September. The walk is also giving me the opportunity to share some of the amazing Home Mission stories from around the country.

Home Mission is part of how we partner in the Gospel together, making sure there is provision for all the elements that support our movement.

This provision enables our national specialist teams and the regional teams, and supports local grants for mission and pioneering.

Like all good journeys I am not walking this alone: I am going to be joined by people from across the Baptist movement who are also passionate about the work of Home Mission:

  • Dave Tubby, minister at Heaton Baptist Church
  • Jack Reed, member of Breachwood Green Baptist Church
  • Sarah Fegredo, Children Youth & Families Advisor East Midlands Baptist Association & Renew Wellbeing
  • Dev Chellappa, Herts International Church
  • Mathew Sheffield, minister at Rugby Baptist Church
  • Hannah Fleming-Hill, Digital Missioner

We have all experienced first hand the support and enouragement of Home Mission and we would really appreciate it if you would sponsor us on this walk: justgiving.com/revhayley

The walk itself is a real challenge: the route is 24 miles (38.6km), and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent in navigating Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in under 12 hours.

Over the next few months you will be seeing updates on online of our training progress, more about who we are and on the day of the walk you will be able to follow our progress.

You can keep up to date on the walk and all the other things I am up to as President by following me on any of my social media channels here: linktr.ee/RevHayley
