Jean Trueman (nee McKee): 1933–2021

In loving memory of Jean Trueman, who spent a lifetime serving God faithfully

Jean Trueman (1)Jean was born in Lisburn, Northern Ireland on 11 February 1933 to John and Margaret McKee, and was the eldest of their six children.

Jean trained as a midwife at The Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast and met and married the Revd William Robert (Bob) Trueman, who trained at The Irish Baptist College in Dublin.

They came over from Northern Ireland in 1957 where Bob’s first Pastorate was in Liverpool at Maghull Baptist Church. They were then called to minister at Zion Baptist Church in Mirfield, Yorkshire and following this moved to Esh Winning in Co. Durham where Bob was the pastor at the Baptist churches in Esh Winning, Langley Park and Ushaw Moor. Their service to the Lord then took them to Great Yarmouth Park Baptist Church and Bob’s final pastorate was Salem Baptist Church in Hillingdon.

During this time Jean worked as a midwife, state registered nurse and school nurse as well as sharing with Bob in his ministry and running many church activities.

On their retirement, Jean and Bob lived latterly in the Forest of Dean where they attended Cinderford Baptist church for several years.  After Bob sadly passed away in 1999, Jean attended an independent chapel with her family.

Jean peacefully passed away on the 25 March 2021 while living in Leonora pilgrim home in Chippenham during the very difficult Covid times! She is survived by her four children, Janet, Ruth John and Sharon; and six grandchildren, all of whom loved her dearly and will miss her so much. She is now in the presence of our Lord.

2 Timothy 4: 7-8: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
