'My family felt the love of the Christian community'

West Bridgford Baptist Church in Nottingham celebrated a special baptism service on Sunday, 2 September 2018

WBBC-Baptism 1In February 2010, during his first year at secondary school, Henry Bright was involved in a serious life-threatening road traffic accident that landed him in hospital for ten weeks, including eight nights in intensive care. It was a testing time for the family, as it was not known whether Henry would survive his severe brain injury, let alone walk or talk again.

As Henry testified at his baptism, 'After I was hit by a car when I was 11 years old, my family felt the love of the Christian community.' West Bridgford Baptists, local Christians in Nottingham and many around the world united in prayer for Henry. At Easter time in hospital, Henry learned to walk unaided, although he still could not speak or swallow. Then swallowing became possible and he was able to have a chocolate button on Easter Sunday. On 27 April, Henry could suddenly speak again and at the end of every sentence he used to say, “Amen”.

Henry said, 'After my recovery, I decided to give my life to the Lord and I started to attend church more regularly. I used to pray and give thanks to the Lord for my healing and his salvation.

'I am now trusting in Jesus to guide me through these uncertain times of moving out and going to university.'

The baptism service was a great celebration, of God’s goodness and Henry’s faith. There weren’t many dry eyes in the congregation.
