Service marks building milestone

To mark the completion of the steelworks of their new building, Whetstone Baptist Church in Leicestershire held an open air service next to the site

At the service on 25 June, Pastor Nick Swanson gave thanks for the work completed so far and prayed for the rest of the build project. A pile of 12 stones used in the service as a reminder of God’s faithfulness will be kept on site for the rest of the build project.

When finished the church will have a main worship area for 500 people which has been designed as a modern multi-purpose space.

As well as services and events, the design plans accommodate:

  • meeting rooms
  • specially designed children's and youth area
  • playgroup rooms
  • café and catering kitchen facilities

Nick said, ‘We are still open to however God wants us to use the building in the future. It is an exciting journey and we pray that the village of Whetstone will be greatly blessed as a result.’

If the build remains on schedule, the congregation are expecting to move into the first phase of the building in about 18 months' time.

Artist’s impressions of the building can be seen on the church’s website: wbconline.org.uk/newbuild
