Re: Inauguration of Donald Trump
Thank you so much for the timely articles by Chris and Helen which I found helpful and encouraging. It goes without saying that much prayer is needed. But how can we send a message to those in power in the USA? One way is by writing to the USA's Ambassador in the UK.
On Monday I listened live to the whole of Mr Trump's inauguration speech and read the transcript, I also tried to make sense of his Executive Orders.
On Tuesday I wrote and sent a letter. I have no idea who exactly will read it, but "all it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing!"
Do pray . . and write.

Thank you Chris Goswami for your thoughtful opinion piece on what we might expect from the ‘Second Coming of Donald Trump’. I agreed with your overall assessment. However, there was something you said I’m not sure I did agree with.
You said: ‘DEI initiatives often fail because they do not differentiate between equality of opportunity (which we must have), and equality of outcome (which is down to merit, not background, ethnicity, or sexuality).’
While I wish it were the case, I’m not sure outcomes are yet always down to merit or ‘the content of our character’ as MLK dreamed. Between the opportunity and the outcome, it seems to me that there is still a lot of prejudice and discrimination that prevents those who have both merit and character from always succeeding and getting the outcomes they deserve. Your thoughts?

I saw this exhibition in Rochester. Words can’t express what a wonderful work it is - a truly spiritual experience.

Re: Statement on the ceasefire
A good and carefully considered statement. I might’ve expressed the reservations in stronger language.
