Re: Romans: A Letter that Makes Sense of Life by Andrew Ollerton
We are coming towards the end of this study in our small group and it has been brilliant! It’s renewed/refuelled my love for Jesus, the message of salvation and sharing this with those we encounter.
The session on peace (chapter 5) was a game changer for me. Thoroughly recommend to all and the questions stir up lots of discussion.
Andrew is really good in presenting, painting the picture and helping us understand. The video is filmed in Rome with messenger Phoebe taking Paul’s letter to the Christians there and reading it out loud as she would have done. Helps put yourself in their shoes.

We are also nearing the end of this study in our Sunday meetings and weekly home groups at White River Community Church. It’s been such an eye opener, wonderfully presented.

Re: Turning the tables on restaurant ecclesiology
I think we all know of those who pick and choose which meetings they will attend, all depending on who might be leading or preaching at the meeting.

As church leaders we are treated like restaurants on trip advisor and some people drift around trying to find a church which suits their tastes rather than committing to serve in one which they could well improve by putting their gifts to use instead of being ‘customers’

Re: A hybrid church community
Online church is a real step up from the impersonal delivery of services on tape. Keeps vulnerable and immobile members (and those on holiday) in touch with church and each other. We even have one couple that listen in by phone each week.

Colchester Baptist Church does the same. A Godsend for those of us unable to attend in person.

Re: ‘Technology has been a game-changer in enabling my connection with the church’
Interesting observation. Digital technologies enable connections with churches for those who are housebound due to health issues or caring responsibilities.

Absolutely love this!

Ensuring Christmas is recognised as a Christian festival
One British TV news channel has pointed out that some television adverts have removed the word Christmas and are calling it a ‘festive holiday’ etc.
Therefore I think that many of us Christians might like to re-dress the balance on this. We could send Christmas cards with a Christian theme on – not just a snowman, and put a Nativity scene, preferably illuminated, in our front window for passers-by to see. We could think about anything else we can do to ensure that Christmas is recognised as a Christian festival celebrating the birth of Jesus.
