Impact800Re: Are we, as local churches, having an ‘IMPACT’?
I think many of us have become comfortable in the normal way of doing things. Many have no desire for that to change, it is a comfortable place to nestle in. Talking of reaching out seems to be only for a small percentage of people.

I'm a Christian not a Baptist member so dont really know how the Baptist think about evangelism but the Lord wanted His Church to go and share Him with others. To be a light to others so Jesus is seen. Yes there are people called to be evangelists but we are all called to be people who will share our lives with others that dont know the Lord.

Albania Paul Alkazraji 800Re: 'Albanians have been leaving their country for decades'
Thank you so much for publishing the excellent opinion article by Paul Alkazraji. It was so good to hear from an Albanian pastor on this important issue. I really learned new things from the article.

I like this article… more light, less heat. More insight, less propaganda.

Economic migrancy is not "refugee status" people need to understand the difference!? E.g. Albania is listed as a designated state under section 94 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002. This means that, 'there is, in general in that state or part of it no serious risk of persecution of persons entitled to reside in that state or part of it.

The Albanian constitution provides for freedom of conscience and religion. It stipulates there is no official religion and the state is neutral in matters of belief, recognizes the equality and independence of religious groups, and prohibits discrimination based on religion. Albania’s parliament decriminalised homosexuality in 1995, but the LGBT community was not part of Albania’s social or political discourse until lately. It's made huge progress!

Albania is still not a part of the Schengen Zone or the European Union, but if you have a valid Schengen visa you can enter Albania visa-free for 90 days. The main contributors to Albania’s ‘brain drain’ are the lack of jobs, low wages, widespread corruption, and the weak rule of law. However, Albania's GDP compared to Africa and Asian states is 118th from 196. Albania's population is 2.8 million. (Refugee status is a displaced person who has crossed national borders and who cannot or is unwilling to return home due to well-founded fear of persecution or from a war torn conflict. Albania for example is not Ukraine with the current war - Refugee status is not defined as "economic migrancy.")

The churches' voice

How strong is the churches' voice on the future of the planet? It was the best part of fifty years ago that the BT launched a regular column on the environment, trying to put the issue on our agenda. The BT was the first church newspaper to do that (indeed the only church newspaper to do that). Climate scientists were warning about the way things were heading even then.
