Raising awareness of mental health issues in churches
Mosaic Creative is a training consultancy specialising in the use of cartoons, illustrations and drama to enhance learning and development. It has recently produced a digital story telling project designed to raise awareness of mental health issues and how the church can respond appropriately.
Mosaic Creative's Bill Crooks, a member of Wokingham Baptist Church, explains more
Research has shown that 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health issue each year. This can affect all of us regardless of our age, gender and economic circumstances, but now more than ever before, there is a growing trend of mental health issues in young people. It is the stigma associated with mental health issues that prevents people from getting the help they need
Mosaic Creative has created a number of digital stories from the experiences of people suffering with various mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder and Asperger’s syndrome.
Each story teller describes their experience of living with their mental health issue and then gives advice to the church for how church leaders and members can make church a safe place for everyone, whatever they are struggling with.
These stories can be used in a variety of settings; in church services, in home groups or as part of an awareness raising event. They can all be found on the Mosaic Creative website.
