Introduction to Charity Law
Baptist churches are charities. A charity is legally defined as ‘a body or trust which is established for a charitable purpose and is for the public benefit’. Like all charities churches are subject to the general requirements of charity law which are found in the Charities Act 2011.
Our leaflet Charity Legislation and Churches explains how churches are affected by charity legislation – but there are many other leaflets to help churches manage this important part of their shared life
