When I was in church ministry, I loved to write individual blessings for children I dedicated or couples I married, and they were always well received. This delightful new book from the excellent writer Ruth Burgess delivers exactly what the title promises.

There are blessings written by a wide range of contributors, on a broad array of topics from the everyday (including for example homes and pets), sections of the church’s year, and life events. In addition, there is a brief section on writing blessings, and one on running a blessings workshop.

The work of Ffald-y-brenin and linked houses of prayer have brought the importance of blessing others (in its truest, not the superficial sense) back into our awareness. This book will be an excellent resource for those leading services, but also for all who wish to bless others or indeed themselves and those closest to them.
 

Jeannie Kendall is a ‘retired’ Baptist minister, speaker, trainer and a current co-leader on the Pastoral Supervision course run by Spurgeon’s College. She is the author of four books: the fourth of which, on Psalm 23, should be out next year, and is working on a fifth
