Episode 1: Why explore equality and diversity?
In this introductory episode, Charmaine Mhlanga and Tim Judson - hosts for the whole series - explain what led to the creation of I Am Because You Are and why are we are asking ministers to engage together in a conversation about equality and diversity. They explore the I Am Because You Are title, which is based on the concept of 'ubuntu', a phrase much loved by the late Desmond Tutu.
They also interview Wale Hudson-Roberts, Baptists Together Justice Enabler. Wale's reputation for challenging racial injustice is well-known, but here he reflects briefly on how he has had to address within himself inherited attitudes regarding other aspects of diversity.
