Welcome message for Hong Kong Welcoming Churches
Hi, I’m Sharon Shek.
Thank you very much for registering to be a Hong Kong-welcoming church. To welcome you as a part of our project, there are some gifts and resources to share with you.
You may like to return to this page in future, so please make a note of the link
www.baptist.org.uk/hkwelcome so that you can access the resources at a later date.
Banners
The first gift is the set of virtual banners which you can find below - click on the images to download them free of charge.
You can also
purchase a printed banner and edit it with your church details on the CPO website. The price is dependent on the size, materials and quantities. You are welcome to purchase and hang it on your building to show that yours is a HK-welcoming church.
Background information about Hong Kong
To find out more about Hong Kong, a brief history of Hong Kong and the story of the BNO visa (the newest visa for Hong Kongers) have a look at
History of Hong Kong - Past, present and future
To make share this with your congregation, we have prepared
a pub quiz for you. Perhaps you could host an event for your congregation with the Hong Kongers and see how much you know about Hong Kong.
Helping you to be a HK-welcoming church
We have some suggestions to help you to be a HK-welcoming church and make you aware of the situation of Hong Kong Christian migrants in the UK. Here’s an
article by the Revd Chi-Wai Wu who was a pastor and a director of an organisation which helped in the development of churches in Hong Kong.
Another helpful resource is '
5 ways helping migrants involve in local church'.
To know more about our journey on this project, you can
read our previous newsletters or go to the
Hong Kong Response Project area of this website. Also, your church name will be in our
HK-welcoming map. You can put the link on somewhere that can help Hong Kongers find you.
In addition, you may like to
register with UKHK to receive more resources from this organisation which is also doing a project for Hong Kongers.
Once again, thank you very much for being willing to welcome people aboard. Keep in contact and I will send you emails to update you on the most current news - or you can send me an email to ask me to share or preach in your church.
See you in-person in the future.
