Darkest Hour - study resource for churches
Darkest Hour (in cinemas 12 January) is inspired by the true story of Winston Churchill's (BAFTA Award winner Gary Oldman) first weeks in office during the early days of the Second World War.
With the support of his wife of 31 years, Clemmie (Academy Award nominee Kristin Scott Thomas), Winston must stand firm and fight for his nation's ideals, liberty and freedom.
Damaris Media and Baptists Together have released a free Companion Booklet for church groups (of any denomination) who want to engage more deeply with this story. This includes discussion questions, a look behind the scenes of the film, and background on this fascinating slice of history.
"We are always interested in highlighting timely and first class resources for our churches, and are delighted to be partnering with Damaris on Darkest Hour", says Stephen Keyworth, Faith and Society Team Leader for Baptists Together.
"The film, drawn from the minutes of Churchill’s War Cabinet meetings, reveals the train of thought and response of a leader and his team under enormous pressure. While this resource offers an opportunity to reflect on a decisive part of our history, it will also enable people to explore timeless themes in relation to their own unique situations."
