"My experience of DNA has been of nurture, care and encouragement, as well as a releasing into what God has for me"

Alice Dawson – Lighthouse Community Church, Sheringham, Norfolk

Alice DawsonI am currently on my second year journeying with DNA, and I can truly say it has been one of the most amazing, encouraging, and challenging experiences of my life!

I have been based at Lighthouse Community Church in Sheringham, Norfolk and I feel I have grown so much during these last 16 months. My experience of DNA has been of nurture, care and encouragement, as well as a releasing into what God has for me and a fuller understanding of who I am and who God is.

I’m really enjoying the second year of DNA, going deeper into what God has for me and seeing more people released into freedom and experiencing God!

I have learnt so much, and I’m so excited for what lies ahead in the rest of the time on DNA and beyond. With the support of DNA, I’ve been able to identify areas of growth in my life and have experienced freedom from self-doubt and negative things I used to believe about myself and what I can do.

I have had the opportunity to work with a huge variety of people at my church, and have loved having opportunities like going to Norway on a mission trip, and serving on the Spring Harvest Team.

"DNA is breaking ground in teaching people what discipleship looks like in the 21st century"

Sam Hackett – minister of Ruddington Baptist Church, Nottingham

DNA provides a great opportunity for people to grow into well rounded disciples of Jesus Christ. As minister of Ruddington Baptist Church it has been a privilege to support two wonderful women of God through DNA and DNA2. It’s been amazing to see the growth that has taken place in their lives as they have learnt more about themselves and grown in both their faith and gifts as leaders in the church.

I would recommend DNA as a course to anyone who is keen to explore life, faith, calling and leadership in greater depth.

The DNA course can be quite intense but the support offered by the DNA Leadership Team is incredible. They provide training both to those engaging in the course, their mentors and church co-ordinators to make it a really valuable experience for everyone involved. One of the real pleasures as a church co-ordinator has been meeting with Joey from the DNA Leadership Team who visits regularly to keep up with how things are going for both the DNA student and the church.

I have found that DNA not only takes an interest in their students but also has a passion for the local church. Over the last two years, DNA has made regular offers of support to both me as a leader and to the activities of the church.

My experience is that as the DNA year progresses the experience of the student overflows and benefits their local church and community. I am so encouraged by the way DNA seeks to train individuals to minister in the local church; making disciples who will make more disciples.

I believe that DNA is breaking ground in teaching people what discipleship looks like in the 21st century.

DNA is a national charity and is an exciting discipleship year focusing on developing people's skills and giftings, their understanding of Theology and most importantly their character (identity in Christ). It is a church based year where trainees can be based in their own church or placed away, with an opportunity to serve in that context in a variety of areas.

It seeks to serve the life of the local church as well as develop leaders of the future (both for within church, the community and the market place). DNA is for anyone over the age of 18 years and is a challenging and exciting opportunity to go on a year of discovery with God.  Every year we have people in their 30s, 40s, 50s and above, as well as people under 30, which we love.
