Eight ways to have a bumper BMS autumn

Planning your church’s autumn programme? Here are some new exciting resources to include from your favourite mission agency

Had a good summer? We hope so. Want a good autumn? Of course you do!

We pray that this autumn is going to be a great season for you and your church, where God will challenge, inspire and bless you in his mission, both at home and overseas. To enable you to do both better, we have resources and events to make this an autumn to Fall in love with.

Help those in need this harvest

If you or your minister are planning your harvest service, we recommend using our resource Syria’s Forgotten Families. With great service ideas and ways you can help Syrian refugees in Lebanon and others in desperate need around the world, you and your church can bring hope to thousands this autumn.

Think: global

Catalyst Live, BMS World Mission’s premier event for Christian thought-leaders, is back this autumn. Be open to new ideas that could rejuvenate you in your calling and ministry from over a dozen speakers from around the world including Vinoth Ramachandra, Samuel Escobar and former BMS legend Margaret Gibbs. Buy your tickets for Birmingham (16 November) or Reading (17 November).

Coming soon: Dedicated

Parents celebrating the birth of their child in church is always a special occasion. Soon it will also be special for parents around the world who are struggling to give their children and babies even the most basic provisions that we’d long for every child to have: shelter, food, clothing and an education. BMS is launching a new resource this autumn called Dedicated, which has been specially created to help parents, friends and family to give thanks to God on their special day by remembering children less fortunate. Look out for more information being sent out to ministers this October

Dreaming of a Chad Christmas – help Christians reach out

It may seem a while away, but it won’t be long until you are planning Christmas services and Advent will be here. This year, you and your church can help Pastor Djibrine, a BMS supported hospital chaplain in Chad, give the poor, mostly Muslim community he serves a Christmas to remember. Look out for details of the Chad Christmas appeal this September.

Get informed about what God is doing

It’s been a historic year for Europe. Its future will play out on the news this autumn. Read in the autumn 2016 issue of Engage about the huge needs on the continent and why BMS is still committed to bringing the gospel to people in Europe.

Also in this issue, we hear about the challenges of caring for God’s creation in East Asia, chat to Catalyst Live 2016 speakers Samuel Escobar and Mark Woods, and ask if anger is a Christian virtue, among much, much more. Subscribe to Engage for free today.

Wish someone happy birthday

Is your birthday this autumn? We hope you have a very happy birthday! Many will be celebrating by giving a gift through the BMS Birthday Scheme to benefit health ministries that we support worldwide. Birthday scheme secretaries, you can get your hands on great new Birthday Scheme birthday cards to give to people in your scheme very soon. Look out for the new designs coming your way this November.

Coming soon: mission projects that make a difference

There are many ways to support the work of BMS and there’s one more coming soon! Support ministries you care about that are making a massive difference in communities all over the world through Mission Projects. Look out for more details this October.

Get some three-in-one

We’re not talking about the oil but the Trinity, which is key to the Christian faith, but often misunderstood. Explore the Trinity and different theological perspectives on it in a captivating issue of Mission Catalyst out this September. Subscribe to Mission Catalyst now for free.
