A conversation with Revd Merlyn Hyde-Riley and Revd Gale Richards
The first woman General Secretary for the Jamaican Baptist Union, the Revd Merlyn Hyde-Riley, was our guest speaker at our theology seminar on 11 May 2023. This is a historic moment for the Jamaican Baptists and a brilliant opportunity for us to hear Merlyn speak. The Revd Gale Richards, Regional Minister for the Eastern Baptist Association, engaged in conversation with Merlyn about her new role and issues of gender. Merlyn is a gender specialist with a master's degree with distinction in Gender Studies, a first degree in Theology and another in Arts and General Studies from the University of the West Indies. Merlyn has been a strong advocate of gender mainstreaming among Baptists and in secular organisation.

This webinar on Thursday 24 February 2022, was led by the Revd Dr Lina Toth, Assistant Principal and Lecturer in Practical Theology, Scottish Baptist College and the Revd Beth Allison-Glenny, Chaplain and Fellow in Theology, Regent's Park College, Oxford. Lina has written about the understanding of singleness and marriage in the contemporary church. Beth has written about Baptist interpretations of Scripture on the complementarity of male and female.
