A Day for Baptist Chaplains
Monday 28 April 2025
Online via Zoom
For the last three years, Baptist chaplains have gathered for a national day online. We are pleased to be able to repeat this in 2025, on Monday 28 April. It provides our 200 chaplains with a further chance for connection, learning, and mutual support. Once again, there are three sessions – morning, afternoon and evening – each lasting up to one hour and three quarters. And as before, you are welcome to attend one, two or all three of these, as time permits.
-
In the morning, 10:00 to 11:45, Bruce Nadin will be helping us explore 'chaplaincy and reconciliation'. Bruce was a church pastor In Leicestershire and chaplain at Leicester City Football Club before spending 15 years in Cape Town, establishing Sports Chaplaincy South Africa and pastoring an inter-ethnic church. Bruce has recently returned to the UK to lead Streatham Baptist Church in South London.
-
In the afternoon, 14:00 to 15:45, Sandra Crawford will facilitate a session reflecting on the intersection of chaplaincy and pioneering. Sandra chairs the Baptist Together Mission Forum and works as a community pioneer minister in Jaywick, Essex. She has also served as a youth worker and a Regional Minister.
-
In the evening, 19:00 to 20:45, Ruth Bottoms will be leading a Bible Study - 'Brief encounters on the Way', looking at the Emmaus Road story in Luke 24:13-35, as we shall be in the Easter season. Ruth is the Head of Chaplaincy at Heathrow Airport and has previously also been chaplain in an organisation working with people experiencing homelessness. This session will be followed by evening prayer to close the day.
Anyone involved in chaplaincy, paid or volunteer, formal or informal, is welcome to join us. It may also prove a useful day for anyone wishing to explore chaplaincy.
Cost per person: The event is free.
Registration closes on Friday 25 April 2024.
Those who register will be sent joining details for the three Zoom sessions in the week before the event.
