CMCS Workshop for Counsellors - 2025
Addressing the impact of racialised trauma on individuals
Saturday 18 October - on Zoom
Provisionally 09:15 for a 09:30 start, finishing around 16:00 (with breaks during the day) – 5 hours of CPD contact time
Facilitator for the Workshop
We would like to introduce Janice Gittens as the facilitator for our 2025 Workshops on racialised trauma. Janice holds an MA in Psychoanalysis and is an experienced Equality, Diversity & Inclusion consultant, working with organisation leaders and staff to develop equitable work environments. She has hosted the Black Light course, which examines the contributions of people of African heritage to the bible, church history and mission.
Janice is also a therapeutic coach, trainer and group process facilitator. She coaches and trains individuals in organizations on issues of equity, diversity and inclusion, organisational culture, conflict, and inclusive leadership.
Zoom Workshop
Janice Gittens' background in psychoanalysis and her consulting experience enables her to draw unique parallels between how change processes play out at an individual, collective and systemic level. She uses interventions in her work that are trauma-informed, attachment-based, and person-centred. Grounded in an Afrocentric worldview, Janice’s approach brings taught and lived dimensions of knowledge to light that enable deeper transformations to become possible.
Join us in welcoming Janice to help us navigate these essential conversations and create space in the therapeutic relationship to address the impact of racialised trauma on the individual in a safe and courageous space.
