Baptist interns' online gathering in January

Connect with other interns across Baptists Together, share experiences and be encouraged - Isabella Senior introduces an online gathering for all interns currently serving in Baptist churches

BU Interns' Gathering poster1Are you an intern or trainee in a Baptist church?

You’re invited to our first Interns’ Gathering online on 24 January from 6-7pm!

There are about 50 interns based in Baptist churches across the country and we’re excited to meet them all. This is a great opportunity to connect with other interns across our Baptist Union, share experiences and be encouraged.

When I was an intern in my local church, I didn’t realise that many others were serving in this way in other Baptist churches and contexts, and that I could connect with them. The day-to-day of ministry and leadership can feel overwhelming and lonely at times, especially when you are starting and as a young adult. It’s encouraging to know that we are not alone and that in fact, if we look at Jesus’ disciples we can see how God meant for us to grow in leadership in community.

This event is a chance to grow in community with others nationally and it opens the possibility for learning together, supporting each other and getting inspired in our Baptist movement.

This first gathering will run online via Zoom and it will include interviews with three people who have previously been interns and breakout rooms for conversations and prayer. I’m looking forward to hearing from these three people who have been interns, about how their internship experience equipped them and finding out about what they are up to now. They come from different contexts and will share from different pathways they went on to serve Jesus.

Interns’ line managers and coordinators are also welcome in this first gathering, and we will have breakout rooms just for them so they can share their experiences and be encouraged too.

The Interns’ Gathering online takes place on 24 January from 6-7pm
