Pioneer Ambassadors

Baptists Together has four Pioneer Ambassadors who are working in partnership with Associations, Specialist Teams and the Baptist Colleges to help ensure the implementation of pioneering as one of our strategic priorities.   A video called ‘the parable of the forest’ has been created to offer a shared vision for Baptist life, and to indicate why pioneering new expressions of Christian community is so important. We invite you to watch the video and to join the conversation on social media @baptistpioneers and using #parableoftheforest

The video is offered alongside the Pioneer Manifesto

Our four Pioneer Ambassadors are:

AliBoulton Ali Boulton
Ali specialises in pioneering both as a practitioner and consultant seeking to inspire and equip others to engage incarnationally in local communities with those beyond the established church. She is particularly involved in developing mission to new housing areas and has co-founded the national ecumenical New Housing Hub. She is part of the core teams of European Baptist Federation Mission Group and Fresh Expressions; is researching new housing engagement as part of The Archbishop of Canterbury’s Commission on Housing, Church and Community, and is undertaking Doctoral research into new housing mission.

Barney - pioneer Barney Barron
Barney Barron is a Baptist pioneer minister, church planter and youth worker. He is a passionate connector, coach and mentor of pioneers and church planters through Incarnate (Anabaptist Mennonite Network), Urban Expression and Coastal Expression. He lived and served on a large council estate near Portsmouth for 16 years, where he was involved in church planting and running a youth and community charity. He now lives in Looe, Cornwall where he is catalyst to a small group of spiritual sojourners and founder of a community charity. He also takes time out to enjoy snorkelling, kayaking and walking.

SimonGoddard Simon Goddard
Simon is Director of RiveTree an organisation that offers coaching and consultancy that helps individuals and organisations turn their good ideas into fruitful reality. After starting a new expression of Christian community in a school he is keen to help local churches to embrace pioneering and become multi-congregational hubs. He is the ‘Resourcing Lead’ within Fresh Expressions and part of the core team of this ecumenical organisation. He is responsible for the Godsend resource and has recently written a version of Godsend for Schools. He co-authored the book ‘Big Hearted: the Gospel of Simple Words and a Large Heart’ with Chris Duffett and recently published ‘Be Fruitful: A Vision of Personal and Global Flourishing’.

Simon H - Pioneers Simon Hall
Simon Hall lives in Leeds with his wife Anna, a TV Producer; they have three adult children. Simon has been involved in pioneering ministry for his whole adult life, since starting a residential community which fostered a church plant while still at university. In 1993 Simon helped to found Revive, a youth congregation of Moortown Baptist Church that became a church plant in 1998. Simon and Anna are still members, although in that time Simon has also helped to start, among other things, house churches, an art centre, an HE College, a family support project and an employment project. He loves culture and sport, a good Bible commentary and helping other people bring their visions into reality.
