Freedom Sunday: working to end human trafficking

Freedom Sunday300A new resource to enable congregations to reflect and act on the issue of human trafficking launched today.

The Freedom Sunday resource pack has been created by the Joint Public Issues Team of Baptists Together, the Methodist and United Reformed Churches alongside a host of other churches and organisations.

It contains prayers, sermon outlines and Bible studies for use in church services, as well as an action pack for congregations and individuals. Sunday 19 October 2014 is Freedom Sunday, when churches all over the world join together to raise awareness of the crime of human trafficking and show the world our compassion for men, women and children who are trafficked and exploited.

'Freedom Sunday provides churches with an opportunity to join together with other around the world in a day of worship, prayers and action on human trafficking,' said The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd Justin Welby, 'Freedom Sunday challenges us and resources us to take action to prevent the crime of human trafficking in our local and global communities.'
