Bank Funding Boost for Homeless Project

September 2012

A high street bank is giving a Baptist church in Essex funding for its work amongst the most vulnerable in its community

Pier Avenue Baptist Church in Clacton-On-Sea has been given a grant by Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales towards the Enfold Project based at the church. The money will go towards the project's current work which includes providing a hot breakfast and showering facilities for homeless and disadvantaged people, nursing care at Beacon House and advice from the Reach Out section of the Citizens Advice Bureau.Bank funding boost for homeles

The grant will also allow the church to offer IT training and provide financial advice through the Community Money Advice Centre it hopes to set up later this year.

Linda Kelly, chief executive of Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales, said, 'The Foundation's mission is to support charities that help disadvantaged people to play a fuller role in communities. We hope that the grant will help the project to bring about the planned changes and benefits to the lives of your service users.'

The Enfold Project Leader, Duncan Wood, said, 'This grant has made a dream become reality, so that we can expand our help to our community much sooner than if we had to rely on our own resources.'
