Biggest project yet for prolific Baptist author

Norfolk Baptist minister the Revd Patrick Coghlan is launching his biggest resource book yet this weekend

Pause for GodPause for God has taken roughly four years, from its concept to publication. It consists of 366, guided, short, daily moments with God, for those who struggle to find the time or the focus to do that – or for whom this is a completely new concept.

This is Patrick’s 39th book, which include a selection of children’s novels.

‘It has been my biggest, and most difficult project yet,’ he says. ‘The book is just over a hundred thousand words, and spans more than 700 pages.

‘It is twenty years since my first book was published; but I still feel really excited about each new book coming out.’

The launch takes place at a book signing event in the Old School at Meeting Hill in Worstead on Saturday 13 November from 10am to 4pm.

He explains the reader is encouraged to understand and put into action the teaching of scripture; and, whilst so doing, to practice the art of journaling, to spend time ‘in the moment’ doing mindfulness type of meditation, to make a prayer response to scripture, and to address any issues linked with the aim of the session that might be difficult to achieve. It looks at both the everyday application of the Bible, and also the eternal. The resource is laid out in such a way that it can be dipped in and out of during the course of a busy day.

Patrick says it’s ideal for busy people, including parents of young children, who maybe struggle to find uninterrupted quiet time.

He adds, ‘This may be my biggest project, but I have no plans for it to be my last. I have a teens novel coming out in May 2022, two further manuscripts being considered by publishers, and a third that I am writing currently.’

Patrick CoghlanPatrick is the Counselling Manager for Aylsham Care Trust (ACT); as well as being the minister at Worstead Baptist Church.

‘We now meet in the Old School at Meeting Hill on Sunday mornings for Café Church – we sit round tables and enjoy coffee and cake during the service. Numbers are going up in the congregation – really exciting for a small village church.’

Pause for God by Patrick Coghlan is published by Kevin Mayhew. For further details about Patrick's books, and the signing event, contact Patrick at patrick@acsmail.net
