Stephen Keyworth
I was born and grew up in Nottingham and have always been a part of a Baptist church. I am married to Liz and we have three grown up children and two collies.
My first career was in aerospace as a mechanical engineer and included time with Rolls-Royce, Derby and with the British Aerospace Flying College, Prestwick where I taught airline pilots operation and control of jet engines.
I followed a call to ministry in 1992 and served as Student Minister at Primrose Hill, Huddersfield whilst at Northern Baptist College. My first pastorate was at Marsden Road, South Shields before moving to Buckminster Road, Leicester which was combined with the role of Regional Tutor with the Northern Baptist Learning Community. I was appointed to the role of Team Leader Faith and Society in March 2013.
I am committed to discipleship that engages with, challenges and is challenged by, the world which we live in today. This inevitably involves issues of social justice, diversity and inclusivity as we try to live Kingdom values in today’s world and as we seek to play our part in God’s Mission.
For relaxation I play golf and enjoy hill walking and exploring wild and rugged places (these two activities are occasionally and inadvertently combined).
