'The opening of this building marks a significant milestone'
Shoreditch Tab Church will be celebrating the opening of its newly built church and gardens on Sunday, 5 November - nearly 200 years from when it was first established and started to serve the local community, writes minister Georgina Stride
Over that time, Shoreditch Tab Church has been a home of faith and love for many. Thousands of people have experienced kindness through a range of practical services. From supporting poor and vulnerable children in the 19th century, right through to helping refugees today who are escaping persecution; from kids clubs and lunches for the homeless to community engagement through our outreach program Street Pastors, the Tab has a focus on loving those whom Jesus called “the least of these”.
In the near future, the Tab will be helping to open a children's home where once again the most vulnerable children in our society will be loved and cared for by the church community and our partners.
The new church building is a beautiful space that is separated from the original listed Tab Centre by a lovely garden.
Its street-front location is drawing in crowds of East Londoners, and its modern facilities are bringing an ease to our gatherings and community life. For more photos, see here.
The opening of this building marks a significant milestone to celebrate all that has been achieved through this church community over the years, as well as all the new things to come in the years ahead.
The opening will also see the launch of a new book: When I Grow Rich – a history of Shoreditch Baptist Church, by Christoher J Voke, a Senior Research Fellow of Spurgeon’s College and former Deputy Principal.
