The church gathered and scattered
Paul Fiddes from Regent's Park College shared his ‘Zoom ecclesiology’ – an understanding of what church is when we cannot physically gather. H e reflected on the church as covenant, fellowship and body, making an appeal for us to see that Christ is still embodied even when our gathering is virtual. Sally Nelson, who oversees Baptist Ministerial Formation at St Hild College, reflected on the experience of disability now that the church suddenly finds itself ‘able-bodied’. She outlined the difference between staring and gazing at one another, encouraging us to pursue genuine encounters with each other, however physically present or physically able we may be. And Anthony Reddie from Regent's Park College appealed for the church to address the disproportionate consequences of the pandemic on vulnerable and marginalised groups. How might we show solidarity with those most affected?
