Two Baptist ministers marry in Cardiff

And 19 more ministers in attendance as the Revds Naomi Adams and Jonathan Dickerson tie the knot, writes Ian Wakeham

Cardiff wedding1In June 2016 The Baptist Times scooped the announcement of the engagement between Naomi, 34, and Jonathan, 35, two Baptists ministers serving separate churches in South Wales: Ararat Baptist Church, Whitchurch, Cardiff and Griffithstown Baptist Church, Pontypool.

Initially meeting at South Wales Baptist College during their ministerial training, they married on 7 January at Ararat Baptist Church in front of well over 300 people.

The guests included 19 other ministers – all who were lining up to each give their sermon on this special occasion! Some were from Torquay, where Naomi was once based, and Jonathan’s hometown of Guildford, and others from Bristol Baptist College and South Wales Baptist College. Is the number of ministers attending this wedding service a record of some kind?

Friends also came from far and near to celebrate with the happy couple, making it truly a worldwide event. One of the bridesmaids, Claire, flew in from Chad to be there, and Jonathan’s sister and brother-in-law travelled from Australia, and Naomi’s uncle, Graham, from the Bahamas.

During the signing of the register, the congregation listened to a piece of music composed by a group of musicians who will play the harp, violins and the piano in special dedication to Nai’s parents to honour their 40th wedding anniversary.
