Get in the Picture - a new look
Get in the Picture is an ecumenical, evangelistic project which seeks to involve all kinds of people in the Christmas story, encouraging them to participate and experience being part of the nativity in a fun way.
Since the idea was started by The Light Project in 2008, many churches across the UK have taken part over the Christmas period - inviting people to be part of a nativity scene and have their photo taken. Chris Duffett, who came up with the original idea, shares his
reasons why everyone should be involved in Get in the Picture.
Get in the Picture has now been relaunched with a new approach. If you've taken part in previous years you will remember registering your events, and uploading your event photos to the Get in the Picture website. Now, in order to keep costs down, and simplify your event, we have changed the way in which photos will be shared. There is no need to register (or pay a fee) and we are suggesting that you either:
-
take photos on participants' phones/cameras (reducing the need for consent forms as the responsibility for the photos remains with the owner of the phone/camera) or
-
have your own photographer and upload the photos they take to your church's website, Facebook page or a separate Instagram account.
All the information you need to help your church prepare to share the Christmas story in this fun way is covered in our Faith and Society File.
Different churches in different towns have used this initiative in their own way, but all have been able to engage with passersby and share the real meaning of Christmas with them.
You can also
download a flyer to share with your church as you consider this exciting idea.
