Support Services Update - March 2022
What are we prepared to sacrifice in our journey of following Jesus?
In Ukraine at this moment, people are having to leave everything behind and flee for their lives in the face of Russian invaders. Ukraine has one of the biggest Baptist Unions in Europe with more than 2,000 churches. I have been moved to hear stories of our Baptists brother in Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, Hungary and elsewhere who have opened their houses and their churches to offer hospitality to those fleeing the conflict. They are making some enormous sacrifices to serve Jesus at this moment. Would I be prepared to clear our church worship area to provide places for refugees to sleep?
In Matthew 26, a woman pours her entire expensive jar of perfume over Jesus. I heard this week, that the perfume was probably the woman’s entire life savings, but she was prepared to sacrifice it all in her act of devotion to Jesus. Would I be prepared to sacrifice my entire pension to serve Jesus?
At this moment, I am fortunate not to be asked to make such sacrifices. But, I am challenged as I think about my calling to serve Jesus in my work and in my church. As the shadow of the pandemic lifts, I am sure we will all be called upon to make sacrifices, big and small, to serve Jesus in our churches and elsewhere.
We continue to do our best to serve you. I hope you will find some useful content in this mailing and please do get in touch if you believe we can help you in any way as you seek to serve Jesus in your context.
