Building links with the community during Advent with a prayer labyrinth

CCR is a 'pop up' church and will celebrate our fourth birthday in June. We are 'pop up' as we 'spot' rent our premises but we are embedded in the community of the village. We gather together in the Youth Centre for Sunday worship and the Village Hall for our weekday activities.

Our monthly Craft Creations, where a craft is taught with a 'Thought for the Day' is our easy access community for all ages on a Sunday afternoon. The weekly coffee morning enables us to meet many people from the village and beyond. We incorporate informal seasonal sing-along celebrations for Harvest, Christmas and Easter and we’re looking forward to a visit from the Sheddingdean Strummers. Children receiving guitar lessons at the local school are learning a song so they can join the Strummers. CCR has been blessed to be able to link with Rother Foodbank to offer food parcels during our coffee mornings.

The past year has seen several new developments in outreach and pastoral evangelism. For Advent, CCR joined with the local Anglican church and Bruderhof community to create an Advent prayer Labyrinth. This attracted over 70 people to take time to contemplate the real meaning of Christmas and to take the light of Jesus into the world and there was great feedback afterwards.

Also in 2018, our Pastor Jan, received her full accreditation as a BU Minister at the Assembly. She continues to lead a monthly assembly at the primary school. CCR was also enabled through a love gift to start a Bereavement course and an Alpha course in early 2019.

For good reports and connections grown through the Advent Labyrinth
-
That CCR has been able to start a Bereavement course and an Alpha course
Prayer Requests

That the Sheddingdean Strummers coffee morning would reach many people in the village

-
For wisdom regarding the practical challenges of being pop up with no manse accommodation
Future Plans
-
In the near future CCR are hoping to start a Men’s Breakfast and a long term aim is to start another 'missional community' possibly using a local allotment.

CCR is very grateful for the all the different types of support we have received from Home Mission, from SEBA churches, from SEBA and the Baptist Union.
