Earlswood Baptist Church
Thankful for the sense of fellowship and love within the church family, and praying that this will spill out into the local area
Connecting with the community in creative ways
Grateful to God for the Home Mission funding which has enabled the church to develop and grow its role in the community
Earlswood Baptist Church is a small fellowship with a long history. Initially a children’s mission as part of the work of Redhill Baptist Church, planted in 1909, it became a Baptist Church in its own right in 1987. With a new meeting room built in 1978 which was renovated in 2008 and a hall added in 1997, the church has been blessed by God in its mission to the community in Earlswood.
We praise God for some great opportunities to connect with our community:
Our carol service
last year – a great turn out with many from the community joining us, including the children and families from our “Messy Church” style monthly event.
A Royal Wedding community party
– we were surprised by the turn out for this event. We thought we might get 3 or 4 families but we had over 50 attend.
End of Year Kid’s Club BBQ
– the first time we’ve done this but a great turn out from the families of our kids club to celebrate the year past and the summer holidays ahead! The chefs were two dads from the families, one of whom is a professional chef, so the food was spot on!
The Earlswood Community Picnic
– the second year this has run in memory of Jo Cox MP, and a great community get together.
We seek God for the following:
For the last two years we have responded to the challenge that Halloween presents to the local church by giving away hotdogs and soup to people out trick or treating. This year we are running our first 'light Party'. Please pray for this outreach opportunity.
Prayers were answered this year with a new deacon joining the leadership team, however, in a few months our treasurer is stepping down. This presents some real challenges to us, not least, who will replace him. Please pray that God will give us clear guidance in finding a resolution to this.
Please pray for us as we continue to seek to serve the Lord and our community. We are always thankful to God for the tremendous sense of fellowship and love at Earlswood Baptist Church and we want to see that spill out into the local area.
The support of Home Mission has been tremendously enabling to Earlswood Baptist Church. I personally am very grateful to the opportunity that Home Mission has afforded me to minister at Earlswood Baptist Church and feel blessed as a result. I also believe that the church has developed and grown its role in the community as a direct result of the opportunities that Home Mission support has provided.
The Revd Jonathan Hardwick, Minister
